The limit of volatile organic compounds in adhesives (GB 33372-2020) GB 33372-2020 "Limits of volatile organic compounds in adhesives" was released on March 4, 2020 and will be implemented from December 1, 2020. At that time, it will replace "Limits of volatile organic compounds in adhesives" (GB/T 33372-2016) as a mandatory national standard proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China

This standard classifies adhesives into three categories based on the different dispersing media and contents in adhesive products: solvent based adhesives, water-based adhesives, and bulk adhesives. Usually, water-based adhesives and intrinsic adhesives are low VOC adhesives.

Solvent based adhesive: an adhesive that uses volatile organic solvents as the main dispersing medium.

Water based adhesive: an adhesive with water as the main dispersing medium.

Native adhesive: an adhesive with a dispersing medium content of less than 5% of the total amount.
