Inspection and testing are important components of the national quality infrastructure, playing a crucial technical support role in ensuring food and product quality and safety, maintaining market order, promoting smooth trade, and driving industrial upgrading. At present, the development trend of China's inspection and testing industry is good, with over 53000 third-party institutions and 1.55 million employees. The annual output value has exceeded 480 billion yuan, and the industry scale has remained among the top in the world.

Skilled personnel are the core competitiveness of the inspection and testing industry, and the theoretical literacy, operational ability, and technical level of practitioners directly determine the accuracy and fairness of testing data. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has also issued a notice on the national industry vocational skills competition from 2025 to 2028. This competition will focus on two key occupations: food inspectors and fiber inspectors.
